NEWSFLASH – ONE DAYER KEY PROGRAMME PARTNERS ANNOUNCED
Thought-provoking questions and ideas keep us all on our toes, which is why we’re delighted to announce we’re partnering with two real heavyweights – The Digital R&D Fund and youth research agency YouthSight – on the programme for our #OneDayer on 1 July. As part of their partnership with us, each organisation will be giving a provocation around a key issue facing those working in independent music – a sort of ‘postcard from the future’, designed to get us ahead with what the future holds and how we can be ready for it.
NEW FINANCIAL MODELS FOR TOURING, COMMISSIONING & PRESENTING LIVE MUSIC
Nesta’s Director of Digital, Arts and Media, Tim Plyming, will be kicking off this strand of programming, sharing with us some thoughts on how we’re all going to be doing (more viable) business with each other in the future. Expect some truly ‘on the money’ thinking, drawing on NESTA’s 2014 New Art of Finance research and his work on The Digital R&D Fund, through which music organisations up and down the country have trialed new ways of generating income and doing business.
Expect explosive stuff from this big hitter, whose track record at the BBC includes launching the first Radio 2 and 6 Music websites and leading the Beeb’s award-winning Digital Olympics programme.
BUILDING YOUNGER AUDIENCES FOR BEYOND MAINSTREAM MUSIC
YouthSight is THE specialist youth research agency in the UK – what this lot don’t know about young people, their likes, dislikes and where they go to get their music ‘fixes’, definitely isn’t worth knowing. Getting us geared up to build better relationships with that hard to grab hold of youth market is Josephine Hansom, YouthSight’s Director of Youth Research & Insight, who – amongst other things – will be sharing the results of some music-focused research commissioned specially for the One Dayer.
An absolute must if you want an insight into what young consumers want and where and how those of us working in independent can best reach out to them.
HAVE YOUR SAY AND JOIN IN WITH OUR FOLLOW UP DEBATES
There’s not a shadow of a doubt in our minds that Tim and Josephine’s ‘postcards from the future’ provocations are going to stir up some very heated debate and new thinking. Having whetted your appetite with these signposts to an alternative future, the debate will continue with our top notch, tell-it-like-it-is, stellar line up of panelists – including Cliff Fluet, Steve Lawson, Lisa Meyer, Howard Monk, Nick Sherrard and Sarah Thirtle – weighing into the debate.
